PRIMARY ELECTION
Registration Deadline: July 20, 2026
Early Voting Period: August 8–16, 2026
Primary Election Day: August 18, 2026
Florida is a Closed Primary Election State. That means that only voters who are registered members of political parties may vote for their respective party candidates or nominees for an office in a primary election unless a Universal Primary Contest* occurs.
You can change your party affiliation by submitting an updated Voter Registration Application at any time. Party changes must be made 29 days before a Primary Election in order to be valid for that election.
All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote on issues and nonpartisan races during a Primary Election.
A Universal Primary Contest occurs if all candidates for an office have the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election.
